As I embark on my final day as Principal of East Hall Middle School, I am reflecting on the greatest three years I could have ever had as an administrator.  Many of our students, I had the pleasure of knowing since my time in elementary school.  To see them grow into young teens has really been a Blessing to me.  They all remind me of my own children.

We have had many challenges over this time that are not considered normal, but through it all, we made it.  These students and faculty fought the fight that brought us through with a victory in the end.  Along with that, even with the challenges of returning to a normal school year, our students continued to fight, gain respect, and grew into great humans that I have no doubt will transform them into get teens and even better adults.

I am proud of this generation of students.  They are quick to ask questions in trying to understand the concepts of life and if they don’t understand, they don’t and won’t partake.  They are firm in attempting to do it their way and not the same way as society thinks things should be done.  Who knows, they might be right in some things.  All I know is that my heart has been Blessed by the young smiles I have seen for the last three years.

The good morning greetings, the bumping of the knuckles, the high fives, the occasional hugs along with some tears, all make me care for them and their lives even more.  It is my continual prayer that God continues to Bless them and nurture them in a way that only HE can do.

I will truly miss you all.  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s life and journey.  These are special times that I will never forget

EHMS Parents – We want to share the Commons Sense Media “Family Engagement Activities to Promote Social Emotional Learning in Digital Life” with you. You can access these resources in English and Spanish below.

In middle school, kids begin their exploration of identity in earnest, and they often experience the pressures of increased expectations. Technology makes these experiences a little more challenging to navigate, especially as social media becomes the primary way they communicate and share with peers.

This set of 15-minute activities will help you lead meaningful conversations with your child about working through the challenges that come with living in an ever-connected world.

If you have questions Social Emotional Learning and Digital Life, please reach out to one of our EHMS Counselors – edwidge.antoine@hallco.org or shannon.skelton@hallco.org

Parents of students who ride buses in the HCSD,

We are excited to announce that the Hall County School District has partnered with Tyler Technologies to make available to parents an app titled, MySTOP . The app is free and provides you with your child’s bus information through your smart phone or tablet! You can access your child’s bus route information by logging in with your child’s school ID number.

MySTOP provides tracking information 15 minutes before scheduled pick-up and drop-off times, calculates the estimated time of arrival and the number of minutes the bus is away from the stop, and allows parents to see the GPS-based bus location on a map. Additionally, MySTOP allows the school system to send notifications to you when your child’s bus is late, or if there is a substitute bus for the day.

Overall, we feel MySTOP will us communicate more efficiently with you and provide your family with helpful, real time information.
